A typical start to a love/romance scam

Here is how a typical romance scam will get its start:

This one will be typically directed towards women.

“Hello dear, I hope a potential new friend wouldn’t hurt. I’m hoping you wouldn’t be offended but I find you really attractive and I’d want you to be my sugar baby, just letting you know my intentions. We can talk terms and weekly allowance now. Do let me know if you are interested.?”

I copied that word for word from a friend’s feed.

The first red flag: you do not know who this person is. First question: How and why would they give you money? Probable answer: They will probably require you to give personal information.

They can then use this personal information to scam you, or even sell it, or both.

At some point, after they have you emotionally hooked, they may claim that something catastrophic has happened in their life and will need money from you. Any money you send them will be gone. Never count on getting it back.

If you ever receive any messages like this, I recommend that you block them immediately.
